RideOut Community Center, 740 Timberland Dr, Tahoe City, California, 96130, United States.
In 1988, Wolfgang Baumgartner Sensei hosted the senior Iwama-style Aikido instructors in the U.S. for a seminar at the RideOut School in Tahoe City. This is the site where Saito Morihiro Shihan had taught a great U.S. seminar. This seminar has been expanded over the years and has now become the TAA (almost annual) Iwama-Style Memorial Day Weekend Aikido Gasshuku.
This year's invited instructors include:
Bill Witt Shihan - 8th dan
Hans Goto Sensei - 7th Dan
Bernice Tom Sensei - 7th dan
Kim Peuser Sensei - 7th dan
Wolfgang Baumgartner Sensei - 6th DAN
Aviv Goldsmith Sensei - 6th dan
Douglas Dale Sensei - 5th dan
with special guests
Ginny Breeland - 5th dan
Jason Yim - 5h dan
Bruce Mendenhall - 4th dan
Daniel Brasse - 4th dan
The Aikido training alone is worth the trip and a weekend at Lake Tahoe adds to the pleasure and camaraderie. Taijutsu and Bukiwaza (aikiken and aikijo) will be emphasized. A great training event to deepen your practice of Aikido as passed down from the founder through Saito Shihan (and now through his senior students).
